I just want to share my first mountaineering trip I've done. It was my first time on a glacier and using rope. This is where I started my passion on climbing high mountains. Since then, I've climbed 4 X above 6000+m mountains(1 failed)and 4 X above 5000m+ in Himalaya and Andes.

I started my trip in Peru for 9 days to do the Inka trail but I ended up almost two months in South America exploring.

Huayna Potosí (6088m)is about 25 km north of La Paz, Bolivia in the Cordillera Real. It is the closest high mountain to La Paz.

Hostel where I stayed in La Paz. Cool graffitti.

Friends i made while in the hostel, La Paz City, and an interesting stroll in the market.

Zongo/ Chacaltaya pass and the locals. The road was blocked to the trailhead because of mass demonstrations. I was stranded for few hours. From the pass, a beautiful view of Huayna Potosi.

I looked homeless with my rented clothes. I only brought hiking clothes on this trip so I had to rent the gears.

The route entails an exposed ridge, crossing huge crevasses, and sections of moderately steep ice. The flag I was holding was from a French Quebecois I met on the descent.

Wow Dean, I have been waiting to see these pictures and hear about your trip. You must have some great memories there... the pictures are really great. More please. I know there is a lot more to come. I can see now where you learned some of the ice climbing skills you demo'ed on the pinnacle of Atwell! How did you hook up with your team? Was it arranged in advance or did my meet the others in SA?

Great trip Dean!!!
I did the same climb a couple years ago.
What company did you go with???

Hey AT,
There is a huge range of rooms available in La Paz. I would bet that room was right around $ 1.00/night!!!
When I was there a couple years ago, we stayed in a 3 star hotel for about $ 35.00/night. . .

Bolivia is GREAT!!!
Super people, great culture. . . AND INCREDIBLY INEXPENSIVE!!!

Great report and photos. It's a shame about the flag however, a bit of an insult, didn't even get the flag right, looks like someone stoned or drunk made it.

Way cool!! Wow, two months. So, is the Mickey Dee's open, there? It is supposed to be the highest elevation McDonalds in the world!!
Maybe they sell Mc'Sheep burgers?
Looks to be an amazing place. Great pictures. I wish I could spend two months out there in the wilderness. I probably wouldn't be able to return to structured society living.
Great job!

Thanks for the kind words everyone.
Like NathanC said, Bolivia is very inexpensive to travel. I paid $2/night for the hostel.
I was traveling alone in Bolivia except Peru, I was with a good friend of mine. I hired a climbing guide. I can't remember which guiding company I used.
