Saturday April 28, 2012 - Widgeon Peak Canoe n' Hike

There are three going so far with one canoe...hoping to paddle to and summit widgeon peak.

If anyone else feels like joining us it would be fun...B.Y.O.C

We will probably be starting around 7:30am at the canoe launch.

Email me or post here if you are coming.

Cheers,
Kelly

Wow Kelly...

That is an ambitious goal to grab Widgeon Peak, the trail is a bit of a grunt and then the way around the lake. Got to the lake twice before, but not sure what is the best way to grab Widgeon Peak.

Like to get up there again later on in the season.

Looking forward to the tr on this one.

I'm trying to gather forces to do this as well. Although, I wouldn't mind spending the night and having a few beverages watching the creek flow by.

Not back yet? Does SAR need a heads-up call?
Have a good night night out, remember to "Hug a Tree".

Kidding, hope you had fun.

Looking forward to the TR as well, would have loved to do it. Glen, if you do this on a weekend and have room, would like to join you sometime later on this spring.

I know what happened!
They're fine, standing on the shore at the landing, saying "Gosh, that tide really does come up a lot higher than I thought it would. I wonder how far the canoes floated?"

I remember on my last time in by Kayak in June last year; the tide and high water had the usual camping spot and brush under water. We pulled the Kayaks well into the Brush. When we came back 7 hours later after the hike, the water had dropped close to 4 feet.

Hey there,

Trip report coming tomorrow...too tired to type...hahaha...
We had a SAR member with us so we were all set... :- )

We left chilliwack at 5, made it to boat launch at 6:08am, paddled for about an hour to get to widgeon wilderness campground and were on the ridge between burke and widgeon by 12:30. We came close to both peaks and were back at the car by 5:30.

I will share more details and pics later...

Cheers,
Kelly

Karl, any trip I do, you have a reserve spot. You are one of the reasons I got back into the woods, after all.
