Does anyone know how high is the snow line in Squamish FSR? Is the road free from the snow?

TIA

Ashlu Main is snowed in down to Ashlu Canyon at Mile 23. That's largely a consequence of being well shaded. I suspect you won't get past Shovelnose Creek on Squamish Main unless it's plowed. There's a dip and a curve in high stands of second growth at that point. It usually melts out last long after the lower reaches of the Elaho melt out. Best check with the BC Forest Service in Squamish and get the name of the logging contractor to find out for sure. 604 898-2100.

Then let us know what you find out.

I telephoned the number and according to Squamish Forest Services, as of last weekend the snow on the road started at mile 34. They though it might be a bit better now, but they didn't have information as to how far a 4wd might make it.

Thanks Alastair. Mile 34 is a couple km past Shovelnose Creek. Hopefully, meatheads in big trucks will punch through soon.

I didn't hit snow until mile 33 a month ago, so I would have thought it was past mile 34 by now?

Forest service is reporting it's open to a washout at Mile 53.5 on the Elaho. (For reference, Mile 37 is bridge #2 crossing Squamish River to Elaho River.)

Nice. That would be just past Reefer Corner? Was the snow continuous from where it stopped you?
