Since Monster didn't start a new one, I guess I will.

Here we go:

WESTERN
Vancouver over LA in 7
St Louis over San Jose in 5
Chicago over Phoenix in 7
Nashville over Detroit in 7

EASTERN
New York over Ottawa in 6
Boston over Washington in 6
New Jersey over Florida in 7
Pittsburgh over Philadelphia in 6

Good picks.

I think Van will take it in less than 7, tho.

I pretty much agree with what you've got going there, although I do hope Philly can beat Pittsburgh.

The Nashville/Detroit series is going to be awesome.

I wonder what would ever happen if Canucks ended up getting beaten by the Bruins again lol.
Wouldn't hell break out? Holy. {We May See.}

I figured LA will last 7 games simply because of Johnathan Quick...TEN shutouts?!?!

The only series I see as possibly going to a 4-game sweep is St Louis/San Jose, but I gave SJ the benefit of the doubt for now.
I can also foresee one of the top 4 getting upset in the first round...possibly New York, but since they're paired up against Ottawa (who usually does badly in the playoffs) I gave them the benefit of the doubt as well.

Then again...that Johnathan Quick might be the deal-breaker for the Canucks too....

I see a VAN-CHI showdown this playoffs again. Either 3rd round if San Jose wins or 2nd round if StLouis wins.

What's more probable is a four game sweep by Vancouver, where they'll win each game by a score of 1-0, in overtime. Quick, winless but with a .990 save percentage, will then snap and waltz into the Kings locker room with a pair of shades, two loaded machine guns, and a catchphrase at the ready.

Can't wait to see Philly play Pittsburgh. Talk about a barn burner!

As a disclaimer, the playoffs this year are going to be a battle, moreso in the west. Pretty hard to call either way though, so I don't expect to have the same prediction success as last year. However, here's what I think...

East

Rangers vs Senators: Sens in 7
Bruins vs Capitals: Capitals in 6
Florida vs New Jersey: Devils in 6
Pittsburgh vs Philadelphia: Pittsburgh in 7

West

Vancouver vs Los Angeles: Vancouver in 5
St Louis vs San Jose: St Louis in 6
Pheonix vs Chicago: Pheonix in 7
Nashville vs Detroit: Nashville in 7

Well...THAT wasn't supposed to happen.
The only game tonight that WASN'T decided by one goal! This will become a physical series for sure.

That's right if you read the stats on paper that wasn't supposed to happen!

What the hell was with the penalties? Some might have been deserved, but some were effin ridiculous.

Likewise in the Detroit/Nashville game...some of the calls were pretty lame.

That is what I heard 2nd hand; penalties killed it for he Canucks. They need to be more careful and stay out of trouble.

Look, I'm not going to pretend the canucks aren't a sketchy team when it comes to the violence and tactics they use. But some of these calls might have ultimately been justified, but weren't in the spirit of the rules. Like the suspension would have made sense if he did with clear malice, but he was obviously going for a legal check and at the last moment he slipped down. Come on...

The height differential from Bitz vs Clifford doesn't help either. It was almost like Chara checking St. Louis.

That said, the Kings deserved to win last night. The canucks played abysmally. Almost all of the penalties were justified, too. We shall see what tomorrow brings.

I'm thinking that terrorists are operating at the NHL level. They implant sleeper cells into the Canucks team and then self destruct with stupid penalties!

I agree the Bitz suspension was deserved, given standards that have been set. You can even see that he had his elbow sort of cocked as he was going in for the hit (not that he meant to injure). I thought some of the penalties were deserved and some the refs have no choice but to call (puck over the glass). Others I thought were horseshit (Kassian's hit and Kesler's face wash).

San Jose beats St Louis. I'm waiting for Shadow to say "That wasn't supposed to happen!", but I think he only says that when the Canucks lose.

Felt bad for Holtby- he played real well in a losing cause.

Can I help it that the "stats" are lying to me?

Easy fix to keep Canucks out of the penalty box: Stop diving...stop beaking and chirping. Even Tony Gallagher stated that Kesler is "overly-dramatic" and I agree.
