Hello Ct'rs :)

So,it's been a llllllllllloongggggg winter for me up here,in what I now call "the Pow",and between crazy shite at work, darkness,a bulged disk in my neck and resulting dead right arm (grrr),darkness and a 10 year old laptop that finally bit the dust,I haven't posted for a long time!

Did I mention the darkness?? LOL!!

I haven't been completely idle, but it's been a very "different" kind of winter.....and thank the gods it's almost over, tough it was SNOWING here today at sea level!!
The following is a compilation of quite a few hikes, some alone, some with new friends and some with the Powell River hiking club :) For those of you who know my Tr's,you will notice how few pictures I actually have of the group hikes.....these people hustle!! Lol!! Honestly, between trying to take pictures, and "pit stops" (whose frequency seems to increase with age lol),it's a miracle I can keep up at all lol, hence the fewer pictures. Really nice bunch of people though :) Hope you enjoy :)

Manzanita Bluffs...

Thunder Ridge...

Duck/Deer/Mud Lake...

Gallager Hill...

Tees Kwat trail...

Stillwater Bluffs...

Hurtado Bluffs...

Cool stuff...

The ocean...

Ridiculous amount of shot's off my balcony LOL!!

Wildlife...

It's good to be back,I have a nice new laptop,so I'm good to go,though I find since I didn't have one for some time,I found other things to do....we shall see ;)

I have missed seeing what everyone is up to,and living vicariously through your adventures! Hope eveyone had a good winter!
Chris :)

Hey Chris, I thought about you a few times over the season and wondered what happened to you. Welcome back! I just knew you were strong enough for CT and not chased off.

Lovely pictures as usual, you always catch the beauty. This one really stands out:

And...this is a very interesting mushroom! I don't think I've seen those before:

Happy trails,
Lynn

Chris

Great to see you back, lots of catch up photography good for a half dozen trip reports. Some really interesting sights; looks like Powell River as a lot to offer in the outdoor sights.

Take care of your neck, hope you are good.

Great to see you back posting, no quitting. I assumed you were off chasing a man, or had, in fact, caught him. According to your pictures, winter in PR doesn't look so bad at all. Love your enthusiasm, as always. : )

Chris, I think it was snowing a lot of places this morning! I figured you had got a new laptop, you suddenly kept on popping up all over the place! The moving truck picks up my stuff on April 18, so I think we can look forward to a brighter summer. And kayak Delilah is starting to think "hmm, where is that nice person who paddled me in circles last summer?"

Taitan says "meow".

The old laptop might have died but your camera and eye for detail has managed to stay quiet active, lol! Great shots Chris. Hope your arm /shoulder gets mobile soon for you and drop me a line when you can.

Lynn: Thanks lady, good to be back :) Me,chased off?? Never!!!! Lol!!!

I thought those mushrooms looked really funny too!! I thought they looked even funnier after they were "spent" LMFAO!!!!!

Calixtomoon: I know right!!

exscape: Good,I was hoping that would help.......I'll pm you tomorrow :)

zeljkok: OMG,I do love my view :) I get to hear the sea lions barking in my living room too,OMG it's great!! ;)

Karl:Thanks,I've missed your cheerful replies :) The neck is coming along, less and less numbness, and as they say,it's a long way from my heart!
On the other hand..........lol........I went hiking today with the hiking group, slipped on some slime covered rock and feel hard on my left hand!! W.T.H!! That was about 30 min. into a 5 hour hike :( It turned a nice shade of blue instantly, and a real funky shape in no time! The folks were great, taking my extra pole for the remainder for the day,an insisted upon sling and some Tylenol.....a good reminder I'm slacking off on what I carry these days
We pressed on,and though it was a painful akward day,I was truly rewarded for sticking it out by finally getting to see some Orcas!!!! Yay!!! SO COOL!!!!
Wish I had pictures, but I "lost" my new camera last weekend at Botanical Beach....that's another story :(

Susie: Congratulations on finally getting out :) I sorely miss Delilah......it will get warm again sometime I just know it lol.....meow :) Email you tomorrow :)

Darren: You my friend made this long winter far more tolerable!! Laughter IS the best medicine :) Missing that!!

Aqua Terra: It was hard to narrow down, but I managed to keep it under 100 LOL!

Nice report and photos!

When I seen the photos of the shelter:

It made me wonder if it is in fact a fully enclosed shelter, it looks like it may be 85% enclosed which made me wonder why they didn't enclose it 100% to keep out the weather elements (making it last longer and stay warmer). Maybe it is enclosed 100% and just looks like it isn't.

Aces: The one wall is made of plexiglass, and I think it was a money issue but I'm not sure? The sleeping loft had a trap door,so it would be cosy anyways :)

Dieter: Fall into a frozen river once and you can never live it down LOLOLOL!!!!!!!! How's the hip? How's the new life? Hope all is well!

Nice pictures Chris, i was wondering too where you were hiding.
I like arbutus forest-ridges, kind of a rarity, often here on Van Isl these places become superb Development-ventures, not unlike 600 acre ALR land flips on the mainland

I didn't notice many clear pictures of manzanitas, did you notice if there are any growing there, as well as Evergeen Huckleberries which inhabitat similar terrain and were an important part of Native Migration food harvests?

I like this shot...
