| It sounds to me it's not the beer itself that's being complained about but rather the name of the beer. Personally I've never tried any beer at Earls so I can't really comment on the flavour profile of their beer. As for the name...I'm not gonna touch that one. |

The comments from the forum are either hilarious, sarcastic, or bang-on common agreement, about 99.5% think it is frivilous or gold digging at its worst. I read it and just shake my head. Never go to Earle's myself so can't comment on the flavor either. Cheers! |

| I guess some people are just too touchy. Interesting about the Palsey comment in the article. My oldest daughter has C.P. and the palsey drink thing doesn't bother me. I think for most people it's not a big deal but for a few it is. |

quote: The complaint alleges that the marketing of the "Albino" line is demeaning to Ero and all people with the genetic condition known as albinism and is being done deliberately to evoke a sense of oddness about being albino.
So much for me trying to market "Small Penis IPA". |

"In her complaint, Ero noted that she was born in Nigeria, where people with albinism are often targeted for ritualistic murder." Why is this even mentioned? Welcome to the modern world where we don't murder people for medical conditions. |

I'm really glad we haven't experienced the 5th paradigm yet because they would have clued into this and bought all existing stock-up before I'd had a chance to sample it.

Because it's just that damn good and any intelligent self-aware being actually would be pretty happy to have their condition exploited in the marketing promotion of this particular beverage.
As for the Albino Rhino. I've had it. Perhaps the issue is linked to the beer quailty. I wouldn't want to be associated with it either. Can't believe this made front page of the Province today. Slow news day....

I'm a total liberal when it comes to this sort of stuff usually. For example, I regularly defend things like affirmative action and the promotion of cultural concern around people's histories and sensitivities. But this is goddam ridiculous. Here's the definition:
quote: al·bi·no/al'bino/ Noun: 1. A person or animal having a congenital absence of pigment in the skin and hair (which are white) and the eyes (typically pink). 2. An abnormally white animal or plant.
The fact that it's a "rhino" indicates it was never talking about humans and furthermore "albino rhinos" exist so it's not something made up. It's a pale beer. It's on the line of saying that a pub called the "black crow" is saying African's are alcoholics. It doesn't make a lick of sense. I think she offers insight when mentioning the (truthfully) horrible persecution of Albinos in areas of Africa. That's gotta make a person pretty sensitive to others saying "Albino" if it usually sat in the context of "I'm going to kill you". Nevertheless, this is canada, and to get persecuted here you'd have to be First Nations or an immigrant. Never heard a person care that someone was albino. |

They should re-label it with a Gary Larson-esq caricature of her and call it Bitch Pop.

A few years back, there was a rock station going on and on about a fictitious apple cider called "Diken's Cider" and the DJ's went on and on about this "dick inside her" theme for months, with all of the usual laugh tracks and fake guffaws.
Infantile? yes... but offensive? Yes, and it's still accepted mainstream.
Lighten up, or just turn off your media. It's just fart humor. |

I'm pretty sure this beer label is offensive to goats...and Germans...and babies...and probably Sir Mix-a-Lot. |

Yeah, the second place one was just tacky humour, I get that. But those lasts ones were just nazi propaganda, no? Creepy, wish that shit would die out completely. |
