Just signed up for the Mountain Skills Essentials Course - June 5 & 8-11 through Canada West Mountain School.
http://themountainschool.com/mountain-skills-essentials.html
Course is completely open still and I'm sure there are many of you who want to get this done early in the year to have a head start on the season.... so sign up

I just completed the AST-1 course this past weekend and found the instruction to be fantastic.
Hope to see you there!

Crowchild, do you feel it was better to take it early in the season last year - given we had so much more snow? Did it prepare you for a wider range of conditions?

| Given the amount of snow had it's plus and minuses. First plus was we focused more on avi terrain and traveling in deep snow. Minus was we did no crampon technique. So what ever the conditions are you will be able to use it to your advantage. |

| Given the amount of snow falling this spring June this year will probably be like May last year anyway. |

Looks like a great course. Are there any other courses out there that people can recommend?
I saw BCMC has a similar course, spread out over a few weekends. It's half the cost of the one posted above.
