Worst decision time in a lifty's life. Do I shut down or leave it running and move skiers further above the slide. The higher they go, The higher they are off the ground if the cable fails or there's a secondary failure of other towers. I would not want to be near the bull wheels. Plenty of lift evacuation practise that day for sure.

there are piles of people up on wherever the high point of the lift is anyways, so you'd just be trading which. Keeping it running as long as possible would get more people off the lift though.
That's insane!

I can't imagine what those people thought, looking back watching the lift your riding getting mauled by a monster avalanche. Do you bail? Hang on hope for the best? I will probably be looking backwards on chairlifts for a bit. Thanks

View from a guy ON the lift, and at the 1:35 mark, better get comfy cause he was probably there awhile.

With the bottom exit/entrance tower span failing, I am amazed that the haul rope is still left intact. I assume the counterweight was at the top station or a hydralic ram set up. Lucky that no one was injured or worse.
