For this coming weekend, a small group of us will snowshoe up Centre Creek and see how far we can get. Anyone is welcome to join up for this trip.

For Mountain, No-name peak, and Pierce will come during later weekends.

Trip report for Center Creek during an earlier visit:

I was thinking of Elk Thurston instead. I guess we were lucky at Ford Mountain. Never mind the cameras, I like the flame thrower mounted under the car. I will follow the thread.

Cam..

Yikes. I guess any car is at risk then.

Richard, I like your idea, a booby trap under the hood... ready to shoot with pin-point flames.

**Elk-Thurston is on my mind as well. Will be doing a light snowshoe on the northshore on Sunday, and catch up on chores this Saturday. I think the following Saturday would be a good day to hit the slopes in the Chilliwack area.

Great idea but now the cat's out of the bag so to speak. Hopefully the perpetrators don't read CT threads.

I was thinking along the same lines for Elfin Lakes parking. Get a camera and set it for time lapse. Not sure if it would work insofar as battery life is concerned.

Sad to think that these areas are of concern now. But it's not a new issue. In 1976 someone broke into my Datsun 610 parked at the Singing pass trailhead (you could drive up there) and stole my 8 track player and tapes.

Your best bet is a "game camera" aka "trail camera." They are used by hunters to monitor wildlife trails and they have a number of features that make them appropriate for this application
- very long battery life
- motion sensor trigger
- infrared light (can capture images at night without the subject noticing)
- designed to mount to trees
- cases can be weatherproof, camo and designed to accept locks

Here is an example:

Katie and I love hiking while (dry) snow is falling, so we will watch for times and see you there. : ) Logging roads aren't so bad to hike when covered in snow. : )

John, that would be great to see both you and Katie.

I am thinking about 7:30 a.m. being at the Vedder Crossing Bridge, Parking Lot meeting spot.

Could be a bit later to 7:45 a.m., but will focus on the earlier time.

Okay...

So far the plan is still on until the group runs out of tails.
