snow/slush/ice from the university. Plows have been good this week and have kept at it. Expect a mess of cars this weekend, with everybody coming up for avalanche days on sat. Could be real interesting tomorrow morning if it freezes tonight.

Nice, a snow cave is even better than a tent!

Personally I've found a good snow cave is much warmer than a tent :)

Anyone know how the snow is from parking to Red Heather? Have some friends looking for some good snowshoeing tomorrow.

Busyness is almost a reason to avoid it, hopefully people chain up or park low. Seen many cars do ok up the hill and then slide off going down.

Snowcaves are useless above zero degrees and especially in the rain because water pours off every ripple in the roof. Been there, done that.

I have heard of snowcaves used in Patagonia for shelter from storms, but the occupants pitched their tents inside.
