Any one with young 10 year olds or so, particularly boys in Vancouver area, take note and watch your little ones and notify your friends.
This guy's track record is frightening and he is relocating to Vancouver likely unmonitored.
Shaun Joshua Deacon is 46 years old, white, 5’11” tall, 190 lbs., with brown hair and hazel eyes. He has one-inch scars on his left palm and his right bicep. (VPD)

I understand your viewpoint from previous similar discussions.
I was thinking of placing this on the'the Lodge' however that category doesn't display on the front page and part of this category is "kids".
I don't live in the lower mainland but that fact doesn't preclude me from caring or concern.
As a person who was twice in my life approached and nearly baited by pedophiles when I was young, and lived beside a future convicted pedophile, I got a radar that is sensitive to these creepies.
I'll keep it low key from here-on-in, Aces.

| That is why it disgusts me, it is on the front page of a hiking site, not an appropriate thread on a hiking site chief. When I visit the mainpage it's an eyesore. Thanks for toning it down a lil cambium, these are my only complaints, I hate sickos, I see them on the news all the time. |

The post doesn't belong on here at all. If you want to make people scared of one another, do it on Facebook or something. edit: it just occured to me you have probably already done this

Cambium posts these type of alerts with good intentions and then all the whinny piss ants that think their self absorbed opinions actually matter to the rest of the world step up and bitch?
More than a hiking/backpacking forum CT is a online community where information of all types is shared.If you don't care for these type of posts, to F*^kin bad... you didn't have to read it in the first place! Move on and find something else to use your soapbox snivelling on! |

The comments weren't that it shouldn't have been posted, but that it had nothing to do with the location on the website it was posted to. Personally, I may be tired of unrelated internet items being thrown up everywhere, but that wasn't the point.
As an aside, the posting is also misleading. It is highly improbable that Deacon is 'likely unmonitored'. Note previous convictions for breach of parole conditions. And given that sex offenders tend to repeat, special care is taken to follow them after release.
You might also want to consider that in a metropolitan area of about 2 million people, it is unlikely in the extreme that your kids will run into this guy. Look instead at the over-friendly uncle or sports coach, and let the police take care of the rest.
The comments about shooting this guy are also out of line. They are exactly what you'd hear in a prison cell, made by a bunch of uneducated thugs with no respect for the law or its processes. Get over the teenage machismo, people. If that's what you're thinking, you're no better than them. |

its nice to have a warning like this,but nowadays i dont really think you need to alert the public. anyone with a brain should know that this world has its fair share of perverts and they should watch their kids no matter where or what they are doing.
the real perverts are the ones who havent been caught yet,and im sure there are alot of them.
