Early crossing American border has advantage - no waiting line at all. I parked my car on Glacier Public Service parking lot to buy a NW Forest permit 15 min before 8 am, I knew it's going to be open at 8 am. But I found that automatic machine is available and you may pay for 1 or 2 or 3 days permit by credit card or cash to this machine. It's very good to know that. 12 miles drive on FSR was uneventful, road is in very good shape and parking lot was almost empty. Very well developed trail brought me to this sign: and shortly after that: to the ridge: view of Mt.Shuksan and Table Mnt. on my left: soon I hit fresh, powdery snow: I did not follow a whole ridge, small peak on the right top corner was my destination for today: View from my turn around point:
fresh snowboard tracks: winter campers on the ridge: |

| This looks like a great place. We never seem to get back to the Mt Baker area. |
