So after 6 hikes in just over a week we decided that this would be our last one for this outing to the Rockies.
We drove to Moraine Lake and followed the trail along the right side. We came to a large sign that said you could only carry on if there were a total of 4 people in your group - it is the law. So, we waited for 1 minute and this older retired couple came along and off we went to Eiffel Lake. This first bit up was steepish (not too bad), then you get to this bench and sign that says Eiffel Lake towards the left and Sentinel Pass straight. We headed to Eiffel Lake and the trail pretty much leveled off, rolling up and down gently. It was a super easy hike to Eiffel Lake. Beautiful area!

Then after a lunch, along with the other couple we hiked back to the sign and bench where we'd seen the original sign. We said goodbye to our new hiking friends and joined up with a group of 5 who were heading up to Sentinel Pass. After Eiffel we weren't expecting it to be too challenging - it was a lot more of steep kick in the butt than expected. Just to give you an idea of what was to come:
There was some loose rock underfoot on the way up and a couple of spots with snow to walk over or avoid by going an alternate path. We saw a woman carrying her baby up to Sentinel Pass. At the pass we were able to peer over to Paradise Valley. If one wished they could carry on here down to the valley. Gorgeous views every way you looked. Definitely recommend this hike!

| Sentinal Pass was my first ever hike in the Rockies and I miss going there now that I live on the coast. Thanks for the report and great photos! |

I see standard route up Temple appears in good shape too. That is such a lovely area. In few weeks larches will start turning golden. |

| From Eiffel lake it's totally worth going up to Wenkchemna pass for anyone else heading that way. Views get even better as you go up and the meadows beyond Eiffel lake are fantastic. Combining with Sentinel pass is totally worth it too though, can't really go wrong in that area. |

You can do a really neat loop going over Sentinel Pass to Paradise Valley, then upvalley to Was(t)atch Pass, and up and over it to return to the Ten Peaks side around Eiffel Lake, and back to the start. It's a great way to see the same sights. |

| Those snowbanks seem to pretty much stay year-round on both the Sentinal Pass and Eiffel Lake trails. They can be a bit tricky if the conditions are right. |
