Susie was kind enough to let me have the use of her spare kayak (Delilla),and as a show of my gratitude,I have volunteered to do some weeding around the place, something I enjoy immensely and miss a lot :)
My nemesis......

My weapons of choice today.....

My goal,to save this majestic tree from the scourge that is English Ivy!!
Boy that IS satisfying, one could even call it therapeutic :)I love a good project!!
A small dent was made today :)

Another couple of nice paddles, another couple of gorgeous sunsets :)

My question...why do the little crabs die when the tide goes out, instead of following it? It's not like it's a lightning quick tide around here. It's sad :(

Truly grateful Susie :)

Incredible photos noquitting! Makes paddling on Lightning Lakes seem sick lol. (not really). Both lake and ocean kayaking are wonderful but those sunsets you see are something else!
No clue about the crabs.

Well thank YOU for attacking the ivy! It is an eternal project, like Sisyphus and his stone. When I first bought that place I didn't even know that the pathway up the hill existed ... it was a solid wall of ivy from the top lawn down to the little cabin. So I have made progress.

Chris is very polite about the kayak, which was my first kayak and which I refer to as The Plastic Pig rather than Delilla. It has a top speed of about 1 knot. However I'm glad she's enjoying it!!

Have you been over to Harwood yet? The beach combing is great over there, especially at low tide. Here's my shell collection from a week ago.

The vast majority of little crabs are smart enough to trot on out with the tide. Just take a chicken leg down there (after you've eaten the cooked chicken!) and watch the reaction. There are plenty of little crabs in the ocean!

Crabs can live for hours out of water. So they don't have to follow the tide. They just hide and wait for it to come back in. Not sure why you think they die?

There are dead crabs everywhere. It's a tough life being a small crab. So many other small crabs trying to be the man.
