A good day for hiking, partly cloudy, comfortable temperatures, and very few bugs.
Ice axe: yes, useful, recommended Crampons: stayed in pack, optional Snow: began at 1250m, hard packed (watch out for creeks underneath), softening where exposed to sun
Our ascent led us right underneath some cliffs. We had to thread our way through some steep narrow areas. We chose a better route on the descent and had a fast clear route all the way down to reconnect with the trail.
I very briefly considered going for a swim in the lake, but it looked a wee bit chilly...
Not as much mud as you might expect, but we still found some.
Nice views.
We were treated by a visit from some baby birds on our hike down. They flitted about, crossing our trail, chirping, and mostly just looking cute.
After Paul dropped me off at Park Royal, I enjoyed manouevering on a very packed bus with my pointy ice axe. |

| Chilly is right! Really nice views. I had to laugh about your description of riding public transit with your ice axe. That would be an adventure in itself. |

So true! Our beautiful 6-month old daughter has kind of ensured that I get out of shape and stir crazy, lol. But it's been awesome. A nice treat to get outside yesterday!

It seemed like everyone from North & West Van was going to the 125 year anniversary at Stanley Park. I tried to look scary and menacing, but I'm really not. |

Ya, I was wondering how your baby was doing. I seem to remember a TR of yours awhile ago talking about being only a couple months away.
Congratulations by the way.
