Hi,

New to the forum - 2nd post I think. I am doing a trip to the Queen Charlotte Islands this summer but am starting to plan for a trip next summer to the Yukon and then up the Dempster Highway to Inuvik. Tentative timeline is the last week of August and first two weeks of September of 2012 - I am figuring on 3 weeks up and back with camping and hiking along the way. Hiking in Tombstone Provincial Park, Kluane National Park, etc! Initial plan is to drive via the Alaska Highway and then return via the Stewart Cassiar. Plan on going solo but if there is someone on the forum who is interested in filling the passenger seat I'd be up to connecting over coffee (somewhere in the Vancouver area) to chat further.

Originally from BC but lived up in the Yukon for a few years ...

Sounds like a fun trip, wish I could go with you. I’ve done that trip a couple times. I have a few recommendations. Bring your fishing pole and fish the Ogilvie River on the way. It’s fabulous for Grayling and Char. Do some hiking in the Richardson Mountains on the way. In the Richardson’s don’t forget your bear or bug spray as I am sure you are well aware. Although that late in the year the bugs may not be that bad. When you get to Inuvik spend the cash on the plane hop to Tuktoyaktuk or Aklavik. It’s pretty cool up there and flying over the McKenzie River Delta is quite spectacular and the hiking is fun up there as well.

Great things to see and do north of 60. Lived in whitehorse and did lots of exploring, hiking, fishing, etc. Have been back several times and still the call continues.

Just seeing if there is any sort of interest from anyone? Basically a great trip or someone who wants to chip in for gas.

I'm currently on the move from New West to Burnaby. Too busy right now trying to figure out where all this #$@&@%$# crap came from and how many @%$#@%$# trips my Tacoma is going to have to make to move it all.

Will call once I have settled down.

Oh, I see, you actually got organized and packed.

I just keep throwing stuff in the truck until it's full. Drop that load and return for a re-fill. Repeat and rinse.

The plan is to go north next year (2012). This year is the inside passage up to Prince Rupert and then over to the Queen Charlotte's.
