A very brief report to say that today I met my Arch-Nemesis in the woods, and it was ok. cjb and I did a quick hike from Nelson Canyon area to Whyte Lake and back. We startled this young fella who must have been hunting in the creek bed and flew up into a branch, observed us observing him for several minutes, then flew to another branch.

We carried on to the lake where we saw many small fish jumping, and a couple of newts. Also, black-capped chickadees, a hummingbird, sundews and some folks training for the West Coast Trail. Explored possible connector trail for Black Mountain/Baden-Powell behind Whyte Lake.

Upon return, while discussing Game of Thrones, stopped to observe a pond and looked up to see owl again. Great use of an evening

That's a spitting image of the one I saw Downtown several years ago. CJB spot any cats?

We have a barred owl in our greenbelt. He's my buddy. When I used to play chuck-it with Gin he'd swoop down on Gin but never too close - it was fun to watch. It like he was trying to play too!

Almost every morning I'll see Frank - that's what I call him, and we'll just spy each other. He's never swooped down to attack my ponytail though . We have a mutual respect going I think as I chase away the crows when they're trying to bully him .

Sam, should you ever feel the need to further make peace with these guys, just pop over to my hood and I'll introduce you to Frank

The cat is out of the bag, MOW .... you had opportunity to obtain at least two of the required ingredients and it looks like you could have found the rest too.

Eye of newt, and toe of frog,
Wool of bat, and tongue of dog,
Adder's fork, and blind-worm's sting,
Lizard's leg, and howlet's wing,--
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.

(Couldn't resist it, Sam!)
