Over the years my daughter and I have put the folding kayak together a bunch of times for adventures like the Bowron Lakes circuit

Johnstone Strait Scrub Islet

and a wet old favorite, the Broken Islands

We trod summits, like Ha Ling
and high points like Guinn's Pass
and high old favorites like the east end of Rundle.

We had breakfast with deer on a Tamarack Trail backpack,

honed some 5.6 outdoor skills at Wasootch Slabs,

and tackled some bigger, shaky weather challenges, like Mount Niblock's summit.

Around then it was time to reset and start again, enter the Wildboy,

with some early rock climbing at Ptarmigan Cirque.

Wildboy found the ocean wilderness alluring,

particularly considering the city's rules and regulations.

The Yukon was a great escape

as was Vancouver Island.

It was soon time to get higher on the Indefatigable Trail,

put on the rope for the Heart Mountain cliffs,
visit the cairn,

check out Larch Valley in the late fall,

and crack 9,000' on the summit of Fairview.

Wildboy gets out winter and summer (King Creek ridge)

and he keeps working on those rope skills.

May our outdoor adventures continue for a long time to come.

What a GREAT story - record!

So many great memories.

Reminds me of adventures with my little buddies - one of which just got married.

Thanks for sharing - G

Part two to the story is just as wonderful. Made me smile to see the adventures you shared with wildboy as he grew.

I love how obviously rewarding this has been for you. Raising kids is a big deal but it doesn't have to be looked upon as a sacrifice. There is so much to be gained if you just stop and take time to really appreciate them.

Great Stuff !!!

That yellow sign should read ..." No Unsupervised Adults beyond this Point "

The young girl in red vest , stacking rocks, looks a lot like my young girl.

Sure beats the city life some kids only get.

Thanks for sharing !

The "young girl" is the Wildboy who adopted long hair for a considerable time. It was down to his shoulder blades eventually. Right after he finally got the chop, his home room teacher was looking around the class and asking where he was and he was standing right next to her.

In that picture he's adding rocks to the summit cairn on Mount Fairview at Lake Louise.

This has got to be the cutest "wildboy" picture I've ever seen! Aren't we so lucky to be parents.
