Was hoping that the nicer weather would have people less cranky, but it just seems to be getting worse. The crankiness is turning into insults, profanity and name calling.
This has got to stop.
Going forward, if I see any of this I'm going to issue a temporary ban for 7 days to the offender(s) involved.
If you are the victim of it, don't retaliate. If you retaliate online or via CT IM, you too will be banned.
Don't bother trying to sneakily provoke people either. I'm not stupid and the subtle crap won't be tolerated either.
Once reinstated, if the offender(s) continue, it'll become a permanent ban.
I don't always get to every thread, but I trust that there will be enough people who do that will send me a note of the infraction.
Appreciate your cooperation in making this a friendlier, more informative and more enjoyable environment. If you must spray, go do it elsewhere.

I can't believe the amount of people that are lacking to post their contributions, because of a few insulting people. I read their concerns on the forum, but I also get personal e-mails, stating the same thing. There are people that will not post their quires or opinions on Club Tread, because of some foul mouth, insulting people... specifically Kevin, T2C.
It seems every time a new person posts something on Club Tread, especially regarding gear for sale or review, Kevin wades in and insults the new poster and a flame war ensues and all reasonable discussion falters.
I will make no bones... I don't like Kevin, but that has nothing to do with my wish to have him and his ilk banned from this site. If Club Tread will continue to be a source of information exchange, then the "potty mouth" people need to be curtailed.

Personally, I have no idea why people don't just ignore any 'bad' parts and participate in the forum however they want. Seriously - why take so seriously what others may be saying about you on the internet?

I guess when you are a new poster on an internet forum and ask an innocuous question and then get a snarky response, that then evolves into a flame war, I can see how that would turn off new posters. Pretty hard to ignore, on your first posts.
Pretty hard to ignore when it's on almost every thread.

If you don't take control of that kind of aggressive testosterony crap early it drives out all reasonable discourse.
Kinda like hiker/campers and the ATV/Snowmobile/dirt-bike beer-swilling target-shooting garbage-strewing yahoo crowd. Anyone not into that scene are forced to run away in horror and disgust.
When a noobie posts a silly but earnest question they deserve a better response than "Don't bother us real men with your pathetic ignorance!". Or to be ignored if you can't be bothered to answer, but why waste as much time on insulting them as it would take to point them in the right direction? Somehow putting down others make some people feel stronger. I just don't get that attitude.
Part of the problem with those testoterony chip-on-the-shoulder type people is that regardless of your own experience and ability if you don't communicate in similar vein you are dismissed as weak and useless, and if you do... well, you have just become what you loathe!
I fully support this new initiative. |

You are most definately the biggest whiner on this site. It must get tiring following me around and pissing and whining about my posts. Take your personal crusade of trying to get me banned and stuff it. The ignore button is there so use it. There are countless "newbie" posts where I am nice to the person and the most recent example of that was a few days ago. You also over look the vast majority of gear for sale posts that I don't touch. You tend to overlook those in your attempt to vilinize me as it does not suite your agenda. You're pissed because i've called you out on several things and hurt your ego...too bad, deal with it. You are just as guilty of insulting people (me) on here and then you complain when others do it. It's very hypocritical.

If it makes you feel any better Prunter, I have also received emails regarding your not so subtle attempts at baiting me and taking jabs. I've also received a few interesting ones from annonymous non ct posters regarding your real life inability to play nice with others over across the pond. Sounds like I had you pegged about right. I'm the filter that keeps people like you in check with some of your horrible self important wanna be guide non advice such as in regards to a few of your climbing posts that were not accurate. That's the root of your problem with me, I call you out and your so self absorbed with how important you think you are, people like you go off the handle when some one questions the drivel coming forth from their mouth, and can't handle being PROVEN wrong. Since those few instances you have been on a personal mission to get me banned. You've gone as far as rewording intent in posts and spin doctoring even.
Keep posting my name and keep up your witch hunt, and i'm going to keep replying in kind.
