Yes I am proof that it can be done ; provided you have a trusty Lab with large dog pack and some good friends around camp to do some holding when you need to get a few things done. (like packing up, cooking, getting water etc, etc) However I did find that as long as I was well organized I could cook and eat while holding Alexa in one arm. The giant cooking boulder at TeePee helped with that.
There are so many TRs for the Stein and I've written a few myself so I'll just leave you with the few pictures I was able to snap off while juggling both Alexa and my full Briza along with the DSLR.

Thanks for the invite Shaggy and Carm. Good to see you Alin, it's been awhile! Dustin you're turning into a fine backpacker!
Alexa is being demanding and Janna misses me so GTG.

Great to have you and Alexa along, Jenn. Definitely, you are Supermom! We certainly had a great time. Looking forward to some more trips with you two.

Thanks everyone. Determination is right Mick. Regardless of our current set of circumstances Alexa deserves to have the same experiences she would have otherwise have had.
It's great to figure out that I can manage it without a dedicated backpacking partner. |

That lab looks loaded down on one side with.....diapers? Good doggie. Labs are great!! I have a weiner dog. Not a good trail dog in the hot desert. Listening to Porcupine Tree. Great pictures! Fun company. Some day, she needs to come down to the desert, stand under an arch, and see a cactus bloom. OH OH!! That reminds me. Been watching a cactus every week, waiting for it to bloom. Maybe today is the day. Looking for picture entries for the local county fair in August....he he So much fun to be out and about with the baby and friends. You'll have to keep a hiking journal for her. Heck, you have one right here on CT |

Thanks Pat and Anita
RM if Krista had been packed with Diapers - they would have been pretty soaked when we pulled into camp - she's a waterdog! The only thing I can pack safely in her pack are those things that can stand getting wet.
Going out yet again with the little one. I really look forward to our little trips together while she's still fairly portable. Next year I think I'll need to stick to biking w/trailer or maybe some easy canoe trips with her. Not sure I can continue to hike her in with all our gear as she starts pushing 35+lbs. |
