Yesterday, I was at a reception for Alexandra Morton and team for the preservation of Wild Salmon, the BACKBONE of BC. The Sto:lo Cultural Center hosted this reception and I was very happy to receive awareness on why fish farms are cancer to our BC coast.

*Note this is not a plug for NDP Government. I'm voting Liberal.* ... nor is this about politics...it's about a cancer that needs to be addressed!

Alexandria Morton is a modern day Joan of Arc and the mainstream media, hired by the corporate fish farming groups are trying to burn her at the stake, as seen on TV commercials.

Will any of our political puppets cut their strings and walk on their own to support what is right?

Salmon really are the backbone of the B C coast.

We can't let what happened to the oolichan happen to the salmon.

One thing we can all do is not buy farmed salmon under any circumstance.

I appreciate your comment, Ryan Conroy. We the People can make a difference by boycotting farmed salmon. Buy wild salmon, order wild salmon in restaurants (not that Atlantic farmed disease infested chemical treated stuff). Friends don't let friends eat farmed salmon.

prother, I'm an Alexandra Morton fan too, the moment I met her, I loved her. An intelligent biologist and lover of nature, what's not to love?

Lynn. Thanks for posting as I was not really aware of Alexandra Morton's work. I have always felt farmed salmon farms were sources of disease, and also source of genetic hits to our wild salmon mix on the coast. Too many escapees. I also heard to start with wild salmon is far superior in taste compared to the domestic, I am allergic to fish so I am taking someone's word on it.

Farmed salmon farms definitely need tighter regulation and upgrades; compliance vs economics of this operations are an issue I believe. ....

Wild salmon swim through a gauntlet of lice infested waters thanks to fish farming. Fish lice are natural but they have increased horrifically in numbers because of the farms. Also a virus from these farms weakens Pacific salmon enough that they die before they can release their spawn.
