Anyone been up there recently & know the state of the trail & snowline? Thinking about getting to the peak next weekend. Thanks. |

I was last there a couple of months ago only to about 900m with mow. We didn't do a trail report. But I've been there three times in the last year so can make broad comments about it.
The logging road will be a river:

A couple of these signs were down - MOW had sighted a flag (white rabbit) about 50m up a slope. So, we bushwhacked up to the single flag and kept going until we reached the Randy Stoltman bench. Great if you have a gps but kudos if you can do it using navigation skills:

There are many unpleasant approaches to the ridge, the flagged route will be under snow - this is what the flagged route looks like and the ridge is on top of that rock pile:

The long ridge walk takes considerable patience in soft deep snow - the real summit is a short ways beyond the horizon.

With the deep snowpack I would allow about 9.5 hrs car to car, less if you can get your rig right to the trailhead. Hope this helps - looking forward to the TR. |

| Thanks for the comprehensive reply Gearhead. I might modify my plan and just go to the second viewpoint to make it easier on my dogs short legs. |

Spacemonkey we went up for a short hike yesterday before the rains started, only went up to the upper crooked falls viewpoint. first part of the trail is snow free and well marked, easy to find. a bit of snow from the 3km junction to the falls, after that it looked like there would be more snow going upwards. there were 2 cars parked at the Ashlu main and one at the TH (made it up the lower boulder/river part of the logging raod), so maybe someone else on here will be able to give you a better update on conditions higher up. forest is still very bare, I love the forest on this hike, it can be really fairytale-like, will probably be more spectacular in a month or so... The 4x4 road that goes to the TR. Any one know how far up that one goes past the TR? If it where to take me to 800m I may consider using it as a bush whack angle. I have been in the area allot and wish I didn't have to start from close to 0m above sea level each time.
Probably cant be helped. |

That was my truck parked at the trailhead on the weekend. We climbed Pelion. Started skiing from 600m or so.
MatthewBaldwin: I think A200 just heads back north from the trailhead for a little bit before stopping around 300m. If you drove there I think the best way to get to Sigurd Peak would be to walk back down the road and head up the trail :) |

Any updates on the area? I haven't made it out yet. Or anything else similar in the Squamish area.
Thx :) |

| I think this one would be a bit tough on your dog. its pretty steep getting to the saddle and the terrain is very rough. |

Never been that far, we've made it to the second viewpoint before. I'm more interested in something thats relatively snow free, I like that area. |
