| LA won the goal tended battle. Lots of arguments in the wake of this 1st round exit about toughness and size being answer to the Canucks and Redwings depth of talent. The general idea being that talent will win in the regular season, but size wins in the playoffs. Going to be interesting to see what happens for next year then with salary space and goal tending questions, I wonder if the fans should get a vote ;) |

Little David was in his 5th grade class when the teacher asked the children what their fathers did for a living. All the typical answers came up -- fireman, policeman, salesman, etc.
David was being uncharacteristically quiet and so the teacher asked him about his father. 'My father's an exotic dancer in a gay bar and takes off all his clothes in front of other men. Sometimes, if the offer is really good, he'll go out to the alley with some guy and make love with him for money.' The teacher, obviously shaken by this statement, hurriedly set the other children to work on some colouring, and took little David aside to ask him, 'Is that really true about your father?' 'No,' said David, 'He plays for the Vancouver Canucks but I was too embarrassed to say that in front of the other kids.' |

The thing is...if they had kept the roster they had LAST year, they probably would have done a lot better this time around, as the players become more familiar with each other. They got rid of Hodgson, Samuelson, Torres, and a few more that I can't bother to remember...and in return received some unknown quantities (Kassian?) or others who couldn't gel with the rest of the team on such short notice (Pahlsonn)...they need to get rid of Luongo, Cryin' Kesler, Edler, Salo, and Bieksa and rebuild the team from the ground up. Concentrate on a more physical aspect, less on the finesse and figure-skating. You can make the playoffs at number 8 just as well as at number 1.
At least, that's what I'd do if I wanted them to win...which I don't...so who cares what they do!
