For those of you who want to make your own custom maps for anywhere in British Columbia, check out iMapBC. One starting point are the postings that I made to a group for users of the OziExplorer mapping software:
http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/OziUsers-L/message/36632
http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/OziUsers-L/message/36680

The ability to annotate the map, coupled with the ability to save a session, can make collaboration in preparing a map for a trip a lot easier.

Here's a map centered just near the top of Grouse Mountain:
http://webmaps.gov.bc.ca/imfx/imf.jsp?session=803088059929

You should see something like this when you access the above URL:

If yours looks similar, but covers a larger area, try adjusting the scale to 1:10,000

For use with mapping software, or for printing, I prefer to turn of the Base Map, which you can do using the 7th button from the left on the iMapBC toolbar:

It is really handy to be able to make a custom map that includes your own annotations, including waypoints and tracks that match what you have loaded into your GPS, and then print, and if desired laminate, that same map. Add a compass and appropriate knowledge, and you should be ready to go.

Do you mean the contour lines don't show up when you use the session link I posted above? Or do you mean that when you use iMapBC you can't get contour lines?

I can't find the right button to push in order for contour lines to show up on the iMapBC maps.

A)
I assume that when you use the session link I posted above that you DO get the contour lines, as shown in the example images shown above?

B)
You don't "push a button" to get contour lines on iMapBC. You have to select the appropriate layer. Starting from following the session link above:
- click on the "Layers" link (second from the left on the bar above the toolbar)
- on the right hand side the Map Layers should be listed
- if not already expanded, expand the Base Maps layer
- you should see the "Contours (1:20,000)" layer is checked
Here's the same area as above, without the contour lines:
