I had made a previous attempt at Narao peak in September but turned around due to high winds and too much snow/ice. Yesterday i redeemed myself by hoofing it to the top in exactly 3 hours. The climbing was more enjoyable this time with an abundance of holds that weren't iced over, alot of variation is possible with the three cliff bands you will encounter and if you want an easier way you just traverse around to the right.

The views were fabulous and i sat on top for over an hour taking pictures, scoping out routes and soaking in the views.

This scramble is located above the Lake O'hara access road

Enjoy the pictures!!

on summit looking at n face of victoria
Niblock/whyte/popes peak
waputik icefields cathedral mtn
goodsirs and Mt.odaraypopes peak
n face of victoria bugaboo's snow/ice gully snow/ice gully on narao goodsirs hector going back down the ridge narao peak from above treeline

on to today...

I was having a hard time making up my mind as i drove north towards lake louise...i was going to just do Bow peak and call it an easy day but i didn't have the energy to take off my boots for the river crossing,my mind was then made up on Mt.Weed..the loosest pile of crap i've climbed so far.

The start point is about 8 km north of Bow summit and there is a bit of bushwacking to do but not much. You follow a drainage until out of the trees and then the real fun begins.

You basically follow a loose scree/talus gully/highway to the top and i can honestly say it was crap...real loose crap.

As soon as i made the top i laughed to myself like a demented person as i knew that it would be all downhill from here.

The views were fabulous and i soaked every last drop of them in.

3 1/2 hours to the top and only 1-1 1/2 back to the vehicle.

someone left a condom in the register...don't know why..could of been put to good use

Enjoy the photo's!!!

Mt.Patterson and snowbird glacier
first gullies you work your way up treeline what a mess.. looking down this horrible mess cool rock formation/crumble on top looking NW White pyramid and Mt.Chephren
lyell icefield observation peak w/ hector poking over the top
crowfoot glacier and Lake louise group behind Mt.Noyes vice pres. and president
assiniboine? Lefroy
n face of temple n face victoria nd Mt.Huber summit block of hector

i renamed this skull glacier

Mt.Weed from Bow summit (the gully you use to get to the top is the one that goes by the small snow patches on the face)

Such great views! Who would have guessed after the weather we endured most of September that we would get an October like this?!?!

With regards to Mt. Weed

I know that feeling. Was it a nice scree run down? Not all scree is created equal...

ya,i think this is seriously the best stretch of weather we've had here all summer...i'm taking advantage of it!! it wasn't a good scree run all the way but the first bit off the summit was pretty good. this scree was created in the depths of hell.....

You gotta do Mount Weed with snow! Than it's a very pleasant mountain. Nice pics! Sure wish I had more vacation time right now. The weather is perfect and the mountains are just begging to be climbed right now...
