Hi All

I got a mesg from Oliver (twister) today with a good idea. Collect a list of links to various snow conditions. Here's the one he submitted...

North Shore:

If you have one to add, simply reply to this thread.

I have made this topic sticky for the time being. Essentially that means that it will always be at the top of the winter forum so it will be easy to find.

For avalanche conditions, the CAA website pretty much covers it for BC & AB.
http://www.avalanche.ca/weather/bulletins/index.html

Washington & most of Oregon are cover by the Northwest Weather and Avalanche Center. It also has a ton of useful links regarding current conditions.

That and the weather network's provincial park weather conditions for current weather conditions, precip, temp & wind direction/speed..

http://www.theweathernetwork.com/features/parks/indexBC.htm

I also like to use environment canada's "Weather Warnings" Page. Just to make sure....
http://www.weatheroffice.ec.gc.ca/warnings/warnings_e.html

You can also sign up for email avalanche bulletins on the CAA site. It's a good way to keep up to date, even if your not going "up the mountain"

Having lived in the Comox vally for a few years and also being an active skier I've noticed this Camera strangly will go out of service when it is foggy down to the base, or when it is raining?? Hmm very odd, That's ok though.. they have given me a few tickets for another day b/c the conditions were not skiable.

I notice there is new snow this morning on the sunshine (Banff) snow camera.. ( some what relevant b/c I move to Calgary today! I feel a season's pass comming on!

This site seems to be one of the best from all I've seen. Anyone paid for membership? Is it really worth the try? How much more details do you get?

Skate, maybe I am not doing the proper search but find these report lacking of coast mountains information; I have received the reports for a month now and it is mostly in the Rockies, I didn't even get the report of Sept 21 for the coast. The only update I had from the coast was for Smithers on Monday.

Anyone can help with this?

Its nice to know snow conditions around town but its also nice to know how the info is collected.

For instance Exscape posted a link to current conditions for Manning park, but if you read the fine print its for Princeton airport a difference of 700 m elevation, this only one example.

Also if you start mixing recording techniques between ski resorts and weather stations you may get 2 very different pictures, obviously ski resorts are going to tell the story their way.

In my opinion Whistler report and ALPINE forecast are Awesome and Seymour is the only local mountain to pay E.C. for a specialized alpine report!! Funny since they are the cheapest and probably make the least. Drew may be able to offer up some relevant links snow pillow sites.

Freezing level Forecast for YVR for 4 days number 14

http://www.atmos.washington.edu/~ovens/loops/wxloop.cgi?mm5d2_timeht+all

other airports are available
11 Victoria
12 Kelowna
13 Comox
14 Vancouver

if you need help understanding it I can post here..

Now hope for snow and ill hope for ice!!
