I am trying to decide between this and the Olympus Stylus Tough 6020. Did you do a comparison of these 2 and if so why did you choose the Lumix ?

Hey Mike...

I already have a Panasonic LX3 and love it... But to be honest with you, I'm also a "Canon" dude, and compared it to their equivalent, not Olympus... But the Canon looked a little "bulbous" and "girly" to me... (Hey maybe Ryan could get off on that)...

Pauly... I'm sure that she'll do well in the dark... Most Ladies do... ;o)

Chris... Thanks for your "Meow"... It touched me...

Thanks Jack,

I am a Canon fan myself that's what my DSLR is. Let us know how you like it.

I'm looking for pocket sized that takes good pictures and a beating.

Mike, I have a Tough 8000, I am impressed with the durability (great camera to take rafting or down a canyoneering descent for instance) but not the lens so much, but it doesn't actually take bad pictures, it's just a tool. The photographer is the one who takes good or bad pictures. You can buy anything and learn to use it to take good pictures once you know the limitations of your tool.

I got one of those in the spring when they first came out. DOn't get the olympus. Unless this new generation of thiers (20 series vs 00) is leaps and bounds better than the origionals, its not worth it.

as for dark, these were taken in an underground mine.

Not as good as my DSLR, but I didn't have to be as worried about it. They also fit perfectly in a field vest pocket for anyone in geology / mining / forestry etc, which is the advantage over the canon, which is too bulky for me.

Jack, I'm really interested in this, as my Elph is on the verge of quitting on me (a gift my class bought me 2 years ago). The movie feature doesn't work anymore and the camera doesn't turn on every now and then. Real bummer when you're in a hurry to get a shot. Anyway, after I saw your camera, you sure got my attention. Now, you said your compared it to the Cannon D10, but you chose this one. I don't think the Cannon has HD, but could you give me the exact model of yours so I can continue my search.

Thanks in advance.

Stéphane
