If anyone is off tomorrow and interested in hiking up to or beyond Sun Peaks from Sims Creek in the Squamish area, let me know. No takers from my list of usual suspects but I skipped my long run today so I will go even if solo tomorrow since I hung out with the woman today. I am pretty flexible as this is more of a recon trip for me, some company would be good at any pace.
Ice axe required, there will still be a lot of snow up at the top. If you have a good rope for snow that would be great, if not I will have to hit MEC before it closes.
Possibility of an overnight if there is any interest.
I have a Honda CRV, can get us either to or within a few km's of the trailhead depending on current conditions. I am a trail runner more than a hiker, but I am down for either a mixed/run hike or a quick paced hike.

If you are only available for a day trip, we should hit the road by 5:00. If you are on the way I can pick you up. If you can pitch for gas that is great but even if you are broke and looking for something to do you are welcome to tag along. This is not an easy hike or well travelled area, but with the weather we have been having it promises spectacular views. I have a good map of the alpine area and I have been to the trailhead before. Navigation should be straightforwards if the clear skies hold. |

| A heads up: MEC is closed today due to a power outage. |

Finally got a decent camera (Olympus Stylus Tough 6020) can't wait to really put it through its paces. Now I just have to figure out how to upload photos from my vintage Mac! |

I am pretty flexible re: pace, as this is more of a recon trip for me, some company would be good whatever your speed as long as you can keep a steady pace, I don't feel like standing around in the bugs!
Ice axe required, there will still be a lot of snow up towards the top. A rope would be good. (MEC was closed and I didn't have a chance to pick one up - thanks bluesky). Obviously depending on conditions this may mean having to turn back. Good chance most of the very top of ridge itself is melted though if we can make it up.
Possibility of an overnight if there is any interest in that. Looks like a daytrip at this point. Without a rope the furthest we could go is the Arsenault Glacier anyway even if conditions up top are good.
