My girlfriend and I decided last minute to try Cerise Creek ( again! ) after an unsuccessful attempt to find the trailhead on July 16.
Following the directions on here more closely, and not those of the 103 hikes book, we found the trailhead with no problem. 1 other car parked there, we would eventually meet the other party as they came down from the hut. We chose the glacier route.
The new "bushwhacking" trail is, in my opinion, in great shape - it looks as if a great deal of maintenance has been done to improve it. Many thanks to whomever was involved in that.
From start to finish, the scenery factor is a 10 out of 10. Here's a couple shots of your first views on the old forest service road.

After rejoining the original trail, your next big view comes in the form of another perspective of the mountains that provide the background for Joffre Lakes/Cerise Creek etc. This one is equally as stunning as the view at the Anniversary Glacier.

Shortly after you're past the fork for the hut or the glacier, if you take the glacier route, the trail becomes slightly less obvious in the form of a boulder field and, at least when we were there, a short bit of walking uphill through a stream in some pretty thick brush. Even at this point, it is very well flagged and quite easy to follow. I doubt the stream would be at this level of flow later in the summer, it would probably be passable without walking right in the water come August.
After climbing a moraine, you're at the lake. At this point ( July 21 ) this was the first hint of snow we saw all day. The only time we could have stepped in snow is if we'd walked past the lake and into what little was left of the snow below the glacier.

A great day out, and a hike I'd recommend to anyone. Thanks again to all those who put in all their time and effort to maintain this trail. It's very easy to navigate thanks to all your hard work. |

Nice TR. Beautiful area. That last pic reminds me of Wedgemount.
Don't you hate that, when you drive out to something and can't find it? Me and my gf drove out to hike Brandywine Meadows a while back. We got lost finding the forest service road up and then took the wrong trail. FAIL. |

yeah, that's the worst. especially after you were stoked to do THAT hike, and you've driven so far to get to it.
i think that's the first time that's happened to me. a couple of times i've taken the wrong route on a hiking trail, but never been turned back before i even started. |

| did you start from the winter route. (side of the highway) or the summer route up the logging road? I hear the logging road is deactavated and a bridge is gone and you have to take the winter route now? |

| yeah, i've never done the "winter route" but as far as i'm aware where i started is now both the winter and the summer route. right across from that "avalanche area" sign on the highway. small pullout, trail descends to Cayoosh Creek immediately from trailhead. |
