Ahhhh time to look ahead to what's to come. Hopefully this October 4th will bring as much fun as last October 4th.

The excitment and anticipation of what's to come as you climb

The fun run back down

The thought and management of dealing with sketchy assed snow pack

The views

things to come

and things to aspire to

Jeezus, Kevin, quit talking about skiing. I've been suffering serious ski withdrawal for a couple months now, and I've got a serious jones for some turns.

If it could be March and April over and over, I would be happy...

It'll be here before you know it...along with Christmas bombardment and darkness at 4:30 PM. Nice pics. But I'm not ready to face the end of warm weather just yet either.

Good call... Ski movie premieres are getting rolling in August so I say this thread is fair game.

Mmm, last October 3rd was my kickoff to the season but I skied just this past Saturday so I'm not jonesing too hard just yet. August, September could be tough but I'm not complaining about a 10 month season one bit.

Nice pics! I was just watching some ski movies the other night.

I've got a trip booked to White Grizzly in February so, I can't wait for Winter!

Yeah, -30 below, freezing cars, square tires, going to work in the dark and coming home in the dark, slippery and closed highways, driving in a whiteout, shovelling snow, frost bite, avalanches, watching my useless Oilers. Yeah, I can't wait. I want an endless summer
But really nice pictures

T2C i would like to start some backcountry skiing this year, doing my avalanche training in the fall or winter before i start out, but i was wondering what are some good areas to start? What hikes or peaks do you usually do when you go out skiing, any help would be great. i would like to scout out a spot before i go up there in the winter.

Lol!

So... is it true? Do the Canadian Rockies REALLY have ten months of winter and two months of bad skiing?

Well...my season started in October and ends in June, so I guess it's more like 9 and 3.

The glades at Parker ridge and climbers right side of Bow Summit, sorry, going to have to point you to guidebooked easily managed busy areas...online forum and all. If you are a good skier off of groomers you would be welcome to come see for yourself.

PM me and let's exchange email addys. No, I'm not going to take you to Kev's secret stashes (relax, K) but I'd like to get out, even if it's to the too-busy popular spots (hey, I've had some good times at Parker's Ridge...)

I'm going to be taking my daughter out not only to learn off-piste skiing (hey, I can use the practice, too!!) but as well terrain and snow pack evaluation. If you're interested in taking time for decision making, feel free to come along.

Tragic, missing a whole month of skiing!

Can't agree with you more! All those who contributed to this thread should be permanently banished to beyond the polar circle . You guys gotta be born in Stalin's Russia and accused in "anti-state activities" .
