I've heard that there is a campground near an old wooden trestle bridge on or near Upper Campbell Lake. On Google Earth I think I've found the trestle bridge at the north end of the lake (maybe I'm wrong and there's another one?) but I haven't found any confirmation of a campground nearby. Any info would be appreciated.

That is not an official camp ground. Every summer there are motor homes and trailers covered in blue tarps parked there. Not a quiet place to camp. If you continue on down the old ERT road, you'll find some old logging roads that lead to the lake. The ERT used to go through to o Hwy 28, emerging near Crest Mt parking area. Several years ago Parks closed the road though the Strathcona Park area. This area is Roosevelt elk over wintering grounds and that was the main reason for Parks closing the road. The old road bed was reseeded with various grasses for elk. You can camp at the end of the closed road. Unfortunately, ATV drivers have run into the Park from the end of the closed road as far as Tlools Creek.
