I'm planning to do Tomyhoi Peak in Washington this Sunday August 1st, and am in need of at least 1 climbing partner. I'm fairly new to BC, and most of my friends up here either aren't into hiking/climbing or are not available for this trip.

This picture shows the best view of this mountain, taken from Chilliwack BC.
The goal is to hike the trail as per Matt Gunn's Scrambles in Southwest BC guide.
Tomyhoi Specs Summit: 2266m (7435 ft) Difficulty: Difficult, exposure Return Trip: 10 - 14 hrs Elevation Gain: 1169m (3835 ft)
This will be a fairly difficult hike, so I would like a climbing partner with some experience and pretty good stamina. I hike at a pretty good pace, and am aiming to do the return trip in 10 hours or less. It's a 2 hour ascent through the woods, followed by a 3 hour alpine ascent to the peak with some class 3 scrambling. I'm located in Chilliwack and am looking to leave at 7am to allow for driving time and delays at the border. So either we could meet in Chilliwack or Abbotsford (Sumas border crossing area), and I can drive down.
A few friends and I will also be climbing Needle Peak along the Coquihalla the day before this (Saturday July 31st), which anyone is welcome to join us on. We haven't set a definite time for this one yet, but I would want to be on the trail no later than 11am. Most complete this hike return trip in around 6 hours. I wouldn't be able to provide transportation for this one though as I'll be driving down from Kamloops, then straight through to Chilliwack afterwards. This is Hike #91 from 103 Hikes in Southwestern BC (Jack Bryceland, Mary & David Macaree). This one finishes with some scrambling as well, but not as hard as Tomyhoi.
Needle Specs: Round Trip: 13 km (8.1 mi) Elevation Gain: 890 m (2920 ft) Average Grade: 13.7% High Point: 2105 m (6900 ft)

| Tomyhoi trip is cancelled for now, if anyone would like to do this hike at a later date please contact me. It's on my to-do list for the summer! A friend and I did end up doing Needle Peak today, I'll be writing a trail report soon. |
