There was a Meetup.com scheduled for Needle Peak and I wasn't in the mood for a solo trip somewhere so I decided to sign up for it and join a lovely ratio of 7 gals and 1 other guy. After about an hour into the trip somehow Clubtread became the topic of discussion and it was then discovered that I had carpooled up with Hikeforhealth and how we thought we recognized one another. Many of trip reports on this mountain so I'll let the pics do the talking.

1.) Rest time taking in the views
2.) The gang on the very minimal snow that is left up there
3.) I believe this was a topic of discussion on Clubtread, going right up this gully which takes you to an odd kinda chockstone, or if you stay left on the ridge.
4.) Marching along

1.)Mid-Way point of the ridge, doing some rock work now
2.)Workin it
3.)Ellena approaching the summit
4.)Hikeforhealth at the top

1.) All 9 smiles on the summit, stiff wind blowing, 360 degree views
2.) Loungin around

We spent a good amount of time at the top and then down we went, we started our day at 11am and on the way down there was a total of 8 people heading up.
Down pics.

1.)Learning new things
2.)Getting down and dirty in the gully
3.)Random
4.)This is how to end the day, aside from forgetting to stash beer in the cold creek that runs right beside the parking spot.

For most of the people on the trip, this was their first little bit of rockwork and scrambly sections. It was really cool to see how excited they were at the end of the day and how much they enjoyed trying something new and abit more difficult. Actually I had a new first on this trip as well. After hike sushi, rather than the burgers and beer. Stellar day.

You do get that "lovely ratio" on the meetup hikes. Rick is at it again on Sunday. The pics say a lot - good times!!

Yeah, you probably had way more fun doing that than coming with me yesterday. Better things to look at near, but maybe not far.

Could have joined EAK on the traverse, but with the 7:2 ratio, as opposed to zero, who can blame you...

There was about 10 people at the summit of needle Peak by noon today. I passed another dozen heading for the lake to camp out. Indeed a popular place.

Neat shot here, I like the perspective on that one.

Do I see a dog in this picture? I've often wondered if Katie could complete this hike to the top. Hard to tell, but the dog looks like a G. Short-haired Pointer...quite an athletic breed. Have to save it for an open weekday however...sounds like it is too busy for us on weekends.
