I've been up the Slesse-Bordon Creek FSR a couple times on my quad exploring and waiting for the snow to leave so I could hike up McGuire.
We left the FSR turn off around 3pm on my quad to make the trip up to the parking coords. There were around 20 teenagers partying and hanging out at the river at the first bridge. We made it past the 2nd bridge without any issues. Besides a couple wacks in the face by the grown over FSR it was a smooth ride.
I found the flagging tape was old and hard to see, we made our own trail a couple times because some of the snow patches in the bowl area covered the trail. I really with I had brought my flagging tape with me but it was in my bigger pack which I left at home. Maybe the next person and do some new flagging.
Once we got going up the ridge it was damn hot and a couple rests in the shade were needed. We kept moving at a good pace as the bugs were out in full force today, along with a couple HUGE bees!
There are only a couple small patches of snow on the ridge trail up and very easy to get around, no snow up at the summit.
We stopped for a good rest at the summit and snapped a couple pictures. I didn't bring my DSLR with me on this trip so I used my Garmin Oregon 550, it take decent photos for a GPS.

We stopped and checked out the Cave at the top, found the coords are out around 30m, we thought it was up on top of the cliff but later found it below.

We wanted to check out the sink hole on the way down as we didn't see it on our way up since we were so excited to get going. Lots of water running into it right now, I would love to get with a group of experienced guys and go explore it.

I also wanted to check our Marsh Creek caves but I wasn't sure where it was exactly. I seem to recall some flagging tape between the Sink Hole and the 3rd bridge, there was 2 small creeks running across the road with pallets on the ground. Once I got the 3rd bridge I was tempted to go back and check but I was tired and thirsty as I was out of water at that point.
I got back to the 1st bridge around 7pm and the 20 people now had the music pumping and girls were dancing. Interesting place to camp.......
All in all it was a good day, can finally cross it off the list....whats next? |

Thanks for your fun TR, some really good shots. I missed that cave back some years when I was up there last before the bridge was washed out.

Wow! I didn't know about this one...is it the one that is out in the open, in the middle of the scree slope?

If I'm not mistaken, that IS the Marsh Creek cave. There is another one (supposedly the two are connected) about 500-600 WEST of this one.
Good job!

Yes that is the one out in the open, only 200m from the summit. It's actually a little hairy getting across with all the loose scree. |

TheShadow: You would probably not notice this small cave when making your way up the old trail but the route we've all been taking for over a year passes it.
The goat trail to McGuire is well worth exploring, good job plav!
Happy trails, Lynn

| Nice. Your GPS does take reasonable pictures (when did they start doing that?) |

Great report, could a 4x4 get to the t/h?
Or is a quad/bike the only real option? |

You might be able to get around with a Jeep at the first bridge but you wouldn't get be able to get past the 2nd bridge. |
