Since there isn't a complete trail wiki on this I thought I should post it. The new entrance, or at least the one I went to is at the Porteau Cove Rd overpass parking lot as specified on the trail wiki for Deek's Creek. You can't park at the parking lot if you want to stay overnight at Deek's lake so the best thing to do is drive up about 1/2 km (do-able with 2WD) and hide your car in one of the bushes :)
You will see a post at the beginning of the logging road indicating km to Deek's Lake. You'd have to travel on the logging road for 3.5 km before you see the actual trail head, however if you have a 4WD, it will save you at least 2 km or so. At the start of the trail head, it will say to deek's lake 3.5 km (see pic). I don't know if it's just because we had heavy packs, but the trail seemed a lot further than that. We both thought the trail from there is prob about...5k or so. anywayz here are some pics :) the trail is very well marked (follow the orange signs) so nothing to worry about really. Oh I only found three campsites up there. There are no out houses or bear lockers so be prepared to hang your food up there!

I didn't bring my SLR cause I figured it was going to rain and I didn't want to get it wet..sigh next time :( |

| I think Scamper and I passed you guys and your distinctive yellow nylon cord in my beat-up Subaru Forester while we were driving out the approach road and you were hiking up. Good going! That's a steep trip, especially with those monster packs. You looked well-prepared, and, judging by your photographs, had much better weather than us. |

Just curious - why can't you park overnight at the Porteau Rd Parking Lot? Also, were there any trees down across the trail? Thanks,
Rob |

There's a sign to this effect in the parking lot by the highway. Probably to prevent dirtbag climbers from van-camping.
There are two or three trees down across the non-4x4able trail. Time elapsed climbing over or around them: nil.
