My daughter and I have done Panorama Ridge yesterday. We decided to celebrate Canada Day outdoors. The weather didn't cooperate at all. It was raining almost for the whole trip. The rain changed to the snow after the Taylor Meadows Campground. There are still a lot snow up there. The snow line started right after the 6 km junction. There weren't any views at the top. It was a complete whiteout. It kinda sucked. After 6 hours of hard work to the top, we couldn't see anything. We decided to stop at a sub-summit, because there was not point to go any further. Everything was covered by a thick fog. The whole trip was 10.5 hours.
Here are a few pictures from the trip. Taylor Meadows Campground

Bugger, that's still a lot of snow. Going to be a late, late summer this year in the alpine.

Nikolai 10 1/2 hours in our crappy weather is very impressive. We only spent 4 hours on Cheam and pulled the plug. Apparently you guys are tougher than us! Good job.

Here's on the way to Panorama last year this time. This is as you get to the meadows in the alpine. Damn what a long winter. |

Hi Nikolai, I was wondering what you've been up to.
You can really see the family resemblance in those last two pics! |

Nikolai
Cool to see this report and the family resemblance; both of you with the zest for mountaineering. Your day sounds like one for us last Fall; when we turned back from Panaoma Summit by a matter of 15 or 20 minutes because of thick fog, and pending rain and hail.
See you on Saturday.
