Just outside of Page Arizona is the entrance to Glen Canyon and Rainbow Bridge National Park. We caught a two hour ferry ride (4 hrs return) to a short trail leading to Rainbow Bridge. I'll start with the bridge that seems too perfect and must have been created by the best artist.
The hike begins at a dock and you walk on docks for the first two blocks, about 20 minutes later you're at Rainbow Bridge:

Thankfully they have a place for shade in the blistering temperatures:

I was enthralled with the Bridge but looked forward to viewing the canyon on our boat ride back:

We explored this area a few years ago in the rain and now in the sunshine. It was absoutly beautiful both times!
Happy trails, Lynn |

We may hike in there one day. It would have to be cooler, though. It was about 90 F when we were there. I spoke to a Ranger who had hiked in 6 weeks earlier. It took him 14 hours one way and he said it would have been very difficult without the snow still laying about Navajo Mtn. for drinking water. The trailhead Then the gruelling 20 minute hike.
Lynn under the Bridge It was a very tight fit to get that huge boat in and out! The most relaxing day of the week1

Wow! You got to ride most of the way, up to the arch. Great. In recent years, I heard you had a couple miles of walking to get to it. the water had receded so far from the arch that they had stopped offering rides? I've always wanted to go there. But, I wouldn't go directly under the arch. Sacred to the natives. They won't go directly under it, either, so I hear. President Roosevelt visited it but his Native Guides wouldn't stand under it. The Pres did, though.
It was great to meet you, two and watch Lynn eat green chicken? yum!! I guess there was chicken in there. Maybe, I'll just stick to the cupcakes, hehe. Next time, we can hike and meet Wendy, for dinner. I feel bad that I didn't bring her to dinner, as well. When it comes to hiking, she bows out. I guess I sold it as more hiking than dinner. D'oh! My bad. Wendy says HI!! It's too bad about doggie allergies because you could stay at our place. Gotta be better'n the Kanab accommodations...hehe Come back any time. I would love it !!! cheers! jerry
