December 15/09 to November 14/09

I heard of people doing 1 million feet of climbing in one year.So I figured why not try this out.For me I would do it in a variety of outdoor activities. For me I get bored of doing just one activity.

My pursuit would consist of mainly backcountry skiing in the winter and mountain biking
in the summer. But I added road riding, free riding, hiking, trail running and rock climbing.A few people that I heard of doing it incluced Mike Weir mountain biking,Ruedi Beglinger ski touring and I'm sure many Tour de France riders.

It took me just under 11 months.Starting on December 15/09 and finishing on November 14/09.It's not just about the uphill. You have to enjoy the uphill but it's all about the downhill.

Huge effort, congrats.

Did you keep track of how much was in each of the sports?

Did you lay out a plan, or just go for and keep an eye on the vert accumulated?

That is a true accomplishment, I also track my stats and I realize how much of work this has taken you. You really did nt loose a second of your life those pass 11 months.

I had a few stats from the year:

63 5000 foot days
7 10000 foot days
121 ski days

Based on 11months or 335 days that works out to an average of 3015.2 feet (919.3 m) per day

I read on NSMB that Mark Weir had done this on the mountain bike about 3000 feet per day.

Did you keep track of how much was in each of the sports?

Did you lay out a plan, or just go for and keep an eye on the vert accumulated?

I just set a date and went for it and started the accumulation.I would have been cool to separate the sports but too much hassle, so I just started the watch when ever I was traveling on the bike or skis.

where was the second to last shot taken?

That shot was taken on the downhill to the ocean in Marin County.
