I finally had the courage to try to summit Elk with my weak ankle. The reason I was more concerned about Elk then Campbell Lake is because Elk is an almost constant climb up and back down which might be very difficult for me. The muddy bit just before the final approach to the first lookout was where I took extra caution and it felt like I was holding my breath. When we got to the rockface, I was relieved:

We head back into the forest to Elk Ridge. When I crested the ridge I was greeted with a golden ray of sunshine and started singing, "She'll be Commin round the Mountain".

We head towards Elk and when we're almost there we meet my dear friend Heather on the trail, another golden ray of sunshine:

Our chance meeting was so much fun, it was hard to part company but the chill in the air pressed us to move on:

The views had opened up considerably on our return to the rockface:

It was wonderful being on beloved Elk Mtn. Trail again. Thanks for hiking with me Stu and Ed, I had a great day!

Happy trails,
Lynn

It was a lot of fun to accompany Lynn up Elk Mtn. This is where the sun was shining upon her. Oh yeah , Ed was pretty happy too!

This would be my summit shot.

Starting back down, the skies clear somewhat.

The downhill trudge through the forest.

Next stop, well you know!

Yippee! I'll see you soon on some trails, I hope.

We are taking a group of kids there this weekend so I am glad to see the lack of snow.

I love this trail. I wish I wasn't working on that day you went, but I'll make it up by mid June.

You did really well you guys, keep it up.

I was thinking about you that day. Of course, I can't hike Elk Thurston without thinking of you because I know you love it and I consider it your mountain. And then .... there you were. I was so happy to see you on your mountain. Nothing can keep you on flatland!

It was hard to go back down, nonetheless, a wonderful experience. Thanks hb for calling it my mountain, it's been the mountain I've left many dreams on.

I am privileged to be a part of Club Tread hiking community and I thank everyone for your kind replies and support.

Happy trails,
Lynn

On July 14th we went up again, it was a lot easier this time. It took 4 hours instead of 5; still a lot longer then before but a great improvement. The flowers are blooming, yippee!

Happy trails,
Lynn
