I'll be quick.
Saturday I took a friend up High Falls Creek (up the creek, down Branch 200).

Google Earth 3d of High Falls Creek trail:
The trailhead is slightly more obscured than normal - still a well defined trailbed, but the white sign on the tree is blocked a bit by growth (as if this trail isn't hard enough as it is for people to find). The first flat part is slightly overgrown in 2 spots but still easy to follow. The chains are all in good shape on the scrambly bits. Fair bit of water in the creek/falls. Nice valley views as always. No cougars. Misjudged the junction where the trail meets Branch 200 (I had never taken the logging road descent before) and ended up following flagging through a cutblock, but made it to the road without much problem nevertheless. Road had nice views but was rather boring. Must be some active logging up there somewhere since there was a sign to that effect where Branch 200 meets Squamish Main.

Nope, so I didn't go as far along the trail as I should have to get to the logging road junction. After the last bluff, we went through the forest a bit to the first cut block - it was flagging from that which I followed through the cutblock to the road.

Nice Ryan,
This is one of my favorite trips in good weather and one of the few logging roads I really enjoy walking down. The views of the Squamish River valley north Tantalus are superb. This trip is my first choice when I have someone I want to introduce to hiking. |

No cougars? Good!
Though the High Falls creek experience isn't really complete if you don't almost land on a deer carcass |

| I've always enjoyed High Falls Creek as a good springtime hike. Was up there on May 15th and continued on through through the boulder field before the road for the first time. The views of the valley were great that day and the Dogwood trees were flowering in their glory. Never knew they were there unless they were in flower. Unfortunately, the trip down on the road included nearby target shooting at old gravel pit sites - and lots of noise. No shortage of cars on the FS main too. |
