Saturday I had only planned on doing the North Peak of the Stawamus Chief. I started at the Shannon Falls Parking lot. Headed over to the Chief trail and headed up. I took the right fork up to the North Peak (It was a lot quieter than the south peak trail). From there I made it to the top of the North Peak. What a wonderful 360-degree View!!! Best View of the three peaks! As I came down the mountain I saw the sign for the Shannon falls trail. I have seen this many times and wondered what it was like. So against my better judgment I headed down the trail. Some sections of this trail are very nice and flat. This only made the steeper parts more interesting haha. This area has some very pretty forest sections between the ups and downs of the hills great for photos. Nearing the end of the trail you come up to a section of Upper Shannon Falls. You can't see all the way down but its still pretty spectacular right now! Next I followed the trail up further still to the viewpoint (about 15min). Here you find a peak quite a bit like the south peak of the Chief. I will have to do allot more exploring around this area! Total hike time for me was 8.5 hours From Car back to car. I was beat but I had a great day!!
I heard that you can get to Petgill Lake from the Upper Shannon Falls hike. Does anyone know how much farther it is from the peak of this hike. Also how well it is marked?
