So being a geek, I upgraded from CS3 to CS5 yesterday. Here's an example of what the new 'content aware fill' feature can do in CS5.

First the picture as processed in CS3:

Now the CS5 Version:

Can you spot the differences (other than the border)?

This was a quick example (took me 5 minutes). I could see this feature coming in handy... What do you think?

Replaced some rocks with grass and removed a shrub...pretty cool feature if it only took five minutes!

Stream course altered - maybe you can use program and skills to work on Gulf oil spill.

haha Haidabear... I'm sure the oil companies would love it if they could just Photoshop away their "blemishes"

LOL! Yeah - unfortunately that may be the only way to get rid of all that oil!

For me the addition of Mini Bridge to CS5 is the surprise speed enhancement for my image editing.

I tried it out myself and it works great cleaning up things from simple backgrounds, but other than that it's pretty weak. Even when it does work, it produces sharp edges, that require you to blend them in more smoothly. It is obviously useful for some situations, but not like many probably hoped. In the end I see it generate a load of horrible pictures from horrible photoshopers, and save some time here and there for those that know what they're doing.

On the other hand, what I have been able to do with breasts, thighs and hips using the new Puppet Warp feature has been truly inspiring! Goodbye liquefy filter ;)

On producing sharp edges, have you tried feathering the edges of your selections *before* applying content-aware fill?

Yeah - if you use the advanced settings around selection and fill you can do a pretty good job with the tool. Like anything else though - you get out of it what you put into it. A 5 minute job will look like a 5 minute job! :D

Yes, I tried. Sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesn't, sometimes it makes things worse. The point is it's just another tool, not a "2 second" magic wand like the preview video on youtube made it look like.
