i had a great time snowshoeing from lightning lake in Manning Park up the Frosty Mountain trail and overnighting in a snowcave on the rolling plateau near the official Frosty Creek campsite.

it's a reasonably gentle grade up, mind you the ice can be treacherous on the steeper sections of the initial switchbacks.

windchill can be fairly significant up in the larch meadows but there are several hollows around to keep you out of the gusting.

be sure you are able to use a compass and topo map with confidence as you may have trouble keeping to the trail(s) under significant snow levels; not sure how Manning park is faring this year..
