Headed up Mnt. Seymour a little later on in the day than anticipated and man was it hot!!!
The trail starts at the end of the parking lot and immediately pans upwards to the right, exposing the ski lift and the road down to the city. There are many alternative trails other than the correct one but it seemed that if you keep left you'll be safe. We acsended quickly despite the scorching heat and were able to find areas with a little shade for quick water breaks which made the climb a little more tolerable.
The first and second peak consist of relatively flat rock with panoramic views of the city and surrounding mountains. If you travel about 800m further in a steep incline to the thrid peak (the true summit), you have the opportunity to tranverse along a small cliff and up a bit of a rocky scramble before emerging through the trees onto a spectacular and breath-taking summit.
The descent is a little more challenging as you have lose rock to contend with. We managed to descend with no accidents or blisters but had a close run in with a black bear. Luckily, some very curtious hikers that had seen him before us started blowing their whistles to ward him away from us.
Definitely a mountain that everyone should have the opportunity to climb!! :-) |

| You know, I've never spent much time on Seymour which is Ironic because my Mom grew up on the mountain....literally, but just last week I was pressed for time and I made a quick Friday night jaunt up to Seymour and I had a really good time. I loved the multitude of routes you can take up and down the pumps and Seymour itself. I enjoyed it so much I can't wait to go back after work sometime this week and try the "old" route up.....I found the beginning last week on my way down. May even whip around to runner peak after reading Simonc's and M range's report from a while ago. |

| Great hiking on Seymour. So many people go once and say "Been there, done that". I've been on the mountain dozens of times and still have plenty left to explore |

| I really like Seymour, but usually avoid it in late spring/early summer in order to avoid the annual bug-fest. |

| It was my first trip up and I was amazed at just how beautiful and different it is. Certainly a great mountain to revisit especially if you have a time crunch but just need to get out there!! |

I swam in Mystery Lake for the first time only 3 weeks ago!
Cycling up Seymour is also a great ride, even though when I went today I only got 5 km up the road before I fell in a ditch because my stupid shoe wouldn't clip out in time! Uninjured, I was pissed off (plus, I had ridden up Grouse beforehand), so I just went and ate a stale Coffee Crisp. Let me tell you - a stale Coffee Crisp is better than no Coffee Crisp. |

A stale Coffee crisped out, I have not had one for a few years. Should grab one soon..
I like Seymour as well, been up there about 6 to 7 times; summer and winter, but still so much I have not covered yet.

| There's a lake to swim in up there? lol I didn't see that when I was up there. Lot's of stagnant water from earlier rain fall but nothing that seemed to promise permanents. |

You didn't see it because it's a mystery! |

Hard to imagine it was that hot two month ago, considering the snow now.
