The weather threw a wrench in my plans. I was hoping to do Mount Bosworth today, but after seeing it was supposed to be a high of +1 and snow, I decided to do something in K-Country. Well, it didn't seem like the weather was much different there, at least not on Mount Kidd.

The trail was pretty straight forward, hard to get lost on this one. There are a few variations going up through the gully. I stayed on the right, going up slabs and scree. Eventually it was only scree and it was very slow going.

Getting up to the summit, I had nothing for views and the wind was so cold that I had trouble pressing the button on my camera. Looking around for the register, I discovered the door for the repeater tower was busted and I took shelter in there. There was about 5 inches of water in there, but it was frozen.

I assumed there was no register and was about to head down, when I saw it on top of the repeater. I went back inside, read through it and was barely able to sign my name. On the way home I stopped by the info centre to report the busted door and flooded floor.

Not sure if this link will work, but here's a video that gives a better idea of the snow and wind:

Hey Marko,

We were up on Hood and Kings Creek Ridge today. As we were driving home (and thawing out) (and when the clouds cleared) I was impressed by the amount of snow on Kidd. Welcome to winter :)

Love this shot Marko!

Good job on at least getting out on something. I was supposed to be on Copper but stayed in Calgary and got beat at mini golf by my son instead! :-)

Thanks Vern! I haven't done Copper yet. Are you trying it (weather permitting) next weekend? You must be very close to completing all of the Scrambling in the Canadian Rockies peaks, what ones do you have left?

Not quite Marko - I wish! I still have 19 left so it'll hopefully happen next year...

Love this shot as well, what a view. Hard to imagine winter is showing itself, especially at the higher elevations. Good for you to tough it out.... a chill adventure.

I just went numb after a while and next thing I knew I was on the summit. :)
