NOAA just put out a special weather warning for the North Cascades. Worth repeating here:

SNOW LEVELS IN THE MOUNTAINS WILL BE AROUND 6000 FEET SATURDAY
NIGHT INTO LABOR DAY. TEMPERATURES ABOVE 3500 FEET WILL REMAIN IN
THE 40S DURING THE DAYTIME HOURS. COLD TEMPERATURES WILL BE
ACCOMPANIED BY OCCASIONAL SHOWERS AND BREEZY CONDITIONS.

PEOPLE PLANNING TRAVEL INTO THE MOUNTAINS THIS WEEKEND SHOULD BE
PREPARED FOR FALL-LIKE CONDITIONS. DRESS WARM AND TAKE RAIN GEAR. HYPOTHERMIA
CAN OCCUR WITH THESE EXPECTED CONDITIONS.

Time to wax the boards! Skiing sooner then later I hope, except for a good few days in mid-November last year it was a painful start to least season, lets hope Ullr is feeling generous this Winter Olympic year.

Was up there today, fairly wet, miserable day to be out in the mountains - still a ton of fun though! The snow was starting to stick at around 1700M and it was still going strong when I left the peak.

Sun's coming through strong down in the valley now though.

Hit snow on the way up at 5600 ft. at 1520 hrs. Coming down very fat, with lots of wind. Not much stickage yet at that time, but very beautiful.

Seems like waves of cold air going through bring some clearing, followed by intense but short spells of precipitation. Forecast has been changed, but they're still looking for dropping FL's and with the clearing skies, it's quite likely that will happen.

Very good berry crop beginning at about 4200 ft. and extending up to 6200. Bears have been making some good feeds, judging by the piles of BS lying around in the meadows...

Trees and plants are definitely showing colour changes, even in the valley. A little unusual for Labour Day weekend.
