That's one hell of a fine trip report! Great job guys!
Does this look like the area where you ascended from the logging road? |

That does look like it martin. We went up the trees to the right of the cutblock. The waterfall was just above where the cutblock ends. Travel in the cutblock itself was not too bad (some veered into it on the way up and down). From your photo it looks like it would make sense to walk farther along the road, ascend the cutblock and then trend right when encountering bluffs in the first part of the forest. |

Here is the waypoint of where we left the road: 10 U 0509194 - UTM 5496986. Elevation was about 840m.
Here is one more shot looking down the glacier towards the upper Meslilloet Creek Valley (you can see the logging road). This is another way to approach the mountain.

When I did this trip a few years ago we started in the top right corner of the main cutblock in the picture. Just into the forest there was a cliff band which we climbed at class 3. At the top of the class 3 section was a nest of angry wasps. Tim got stung 17 times. From the top of the cliffs (visible in the photo just above the clearcut) it was easy traveling up to the col at the top of the photo. |

I forgot to mention that the GPS reading above for where we left the road is in NAD27.
Scott, I'm not sure if a wasp nest lasts for four years, but I wouldn't want to find out the hard way. Good thing you had the anti-histamine handy.
Thanks for doing this route back then, it and R Tivys trip on Bivouac inspired us to give it a go. |

| Nice TR awsome area, i did Bonneycastle last august took me 5 1/2 hr (3 up the road 2 1/2hr vege belay) The water divide and views are awsome. I was wondering if one could take the ridge from bonnycastle to meslilloet and then access the summit other than via the E face? I would rather not pack the rope as it is steep!!! would like to make it a 2-3 day overnighter via indian arm. any imput would be much appreciated |

You can avoid the east face of Meslilloet by contouring around to the south side. We didn't use a rope on our trip. Looking at the map it looks doable from Bonnycastle. Maybe cross Hixon Creek instead of going around the lake east of Meslilloet.
Good job on bagging Bonnycastle, it's one I'd like to do.

Yeah i took hixon then its just str8 uphill for 2-3 hours to barns lake where i hung my hammock and tuckin in for the night, summetted the next day then scrambled almost half along the ridge to bonny castle which is nice granite pumps later some bad decision making ended in waterfalls, cliffs and a long uphill back track also decending bonnycastle on the west side of the lake outflow. this decent was lame (bushy and lots of back tracking)when compared to the huckleberry belay on the way up. I want to tackle that loop this summer just pack really light (hammock) and get this longtime ocean to glacier trek sorted + the views are spectacular.
