Did a quick jaunt up Miner's Peak above Canmore today. Good conditions although the trail above the trees is getting scruffy. Not the usual zoo up there, however, one young aussie guy gave us concern; he had a bab on his back and was climbng up the trail on hands and knees. Yikes.

This is my umpteenth time up here and it is always enjoyable; today was especially so, there was a large mountain goat on the slope above the trail just where you get out of the trees. I have seen around 200 sheep in the last week but it has been a few years since I have seen a mountain goat. So close to Canmore, what a treat!

Yeah, Wietse was mentioning people with kids on their backs on that trail last year. I have a friend whose 8 year old almost got into serious trouble on the way down Ha Lin when they started running down the upper slopes and ended up cart wheeling over loose rubble. Guess even though it's a hike people should still treat it with respect eh?

Cool that you saw a goat, I've always had to go to Jasper to find them! :-(

Vern:

The best place to see goats is Cathedral Park near Keremeos, BC. We were there three years ago and a female goat decided to hang out with us. We sat in a col and she ate vegetation, all the while staying no more than 5 meters away. After a half hour, peaks becloned and we set off. She followed us, staying within 10 meters of us for another hour. Never seen that before!

Proof that one persons 'trainer' is someone elses 'epic'.

Goats are creepy. Something about their eyes.
