My girlfriend is spending 5 weeks up in Boston Bar for field school, so this gave me two reasons to visit this area for the first time. Reason one being the girlfriend and getting away to go camping for 3 days and reason two to have have a look at the Anderson river peaks close up.
Here is a little road update 
Red= Anderson River Main fsr excellent condition pass by two gates both were open
Yellow= Anderson East after the fork there is 1 rough washout section with a rock in the middle of the road but you can get around it with 4x4 and then in really good condition basically to the end of the valley over 30km from Hwy 1.
Pink= Anderson North must have had some damage over the winter because there were 2 caterpillars parked throughout the road repairing hill slides,luckily they had finished the major sections so it was in good condition the whole way but 4x4 high clearance needed farther down the road for cross ditches. My stock Toyota never scraped once.
Since I had already driven the East road once on a wet, crummy, low cloud, low visibility day decided we would just take the North road and see where it would take us. We drove it to the very end of the valley and soon enough I could see Gamuza off in the distance. So Reh mountain was now out and Gamuza was now in.
1.The view you get from the North road of Steinbok and Ibex and Chamois
2.Gemses on the left and Reh on the right with the low angle ridge I initially thought I would be bringing Stacey up and am quite sure now know the road to get you very very close to these two mountains.
3.I think I took this from where we parked(Gamuza in sight)
4.Making our way through the trees to try and gain the ridge somewhere
   
After traversing below the ridge for not very long we found a gentle angle where we were able to get up onto the nice broad ridge which thanks to Burnabyhikers TR I remembered would take us to the top with no real hassles to run into.
 
Some ups and downs along the way with bushes, but then every so often you get to play around on some rock.
   
Sure we could have gone around this to either the left or right but it was a good section for Stacey to get more comfortable using her hands and feet climbing up rather than just placing 1 foot infront of the other
 
It kinda felt like the ridge that never ends and the mountain that keeps getting farther away as you keep moving towards it but it was an enjoyable ridge that got steep right near the summit.

It was super windy at the top coming from from the West and bitterly cold so we snapped the summit shots and then jumped down off the summit block and had lunch in the protective cover of the trees and rocks.
  
1.A Microsoft paint look at our route, no gps so it's only an estimate
2.The north approach to Steinbok and Ibex col holy %^*# does that look ugly
3.The tasty looking South ridge of Gemses and West ridge of Reh
4.Steibok, Ibex, Chamois are left for another day
   
The trip back might have been good with snow cover, the way BurnabyHiker and them did it, but we also dropped down into the valley to the East and it did SUCK. The picture of the alder doesn't really tell the whole story of the alder covered road because it GOT WORSE! Stacey got to see what an alder tunnel is, and I got to remember why I hate that shit so much. Aside from the alder and slash for the last little bit, it was still a good trip.

Brings back a lot of memories. Funny how different the place is without the snow cover.

I guess those kids are now all grown up now, and Mom has taken a holiday. Perhaps this was a good time to do the hike.

Dru we never came across any bears, saw signs of them though. I still have yet to see a bear from outside of a car driving. Throughout the day I'de just yell and clang the poles together and hope it does the trick. In the snow saw possibly cat prints? What was the outcome of the bear charging you?
Ted she liked being on the rock, even if it was super short sections and pretty new to her. I've only really shown her class 2 trips and will have to try and take her on a nice long class 3 one and see what she thinks.
Dean they are the Anderson River Peaks, I named them up above except Les Cornes |

Al, take Stacey up Vicuna and Alpaca. No Alder and some nice rock (might be a bit boggy on part of the approach though).

Glad to see a version of this trip with less snow. Good map-showing-route also.
The snow might of made getting to the 'road' easier but it was still the least pleasant part of the trip. I'm thinking that returning along the ridge is best, no matter the season. |

| Nice report and photos, that is one area (Boston Bar) that I'd like to explore more of considering I am not too far from there. There sure are some cool looking mountains in your pics. Thanks for sharing. |
