My Bro and I headed to Garibaldi for the weekend. Parked at the Cheakamus Lake parking and set off for Helm campground about 10 am. After setting up camp and having lunch we had hoped to do a little exploring, but mother nature had different ideas! Started raining good and didn't let up till it started to get dark.
About the only view on the first day
Woke up to a frosty morning! After breakfast headed off across helm meadows towards the cinder flats and Panorama Ridge
The Tusk with a dusting of fresh snow
Looking across the cinder flats towards Helm Lake and Panorama Ridge
Looking back across Helm Lake towads the Cinder Cone with Helm Peak behind
Gentian Ridge
A nice view, but have to come back on a clear day!!
Cheers! |

Yes, that little cold front had ideas of its own. Looks like you had much better views on Sunday morning than were available in the Whistler area, though!
Still a fair amount of snow on the surrounding mountains, particularly on the northern aspects. Perhaps this week's weather will clean some of that up. |

Despite the weather, you still got some great shots. Nothing like turbulent weather to make camping interesting.

| The Helm Creek campground can be a really bad spot for bugs. Personally, I'd take the snow and frost over the billions of mosquitos that like to hang out there. |

Looks great up there. Much less snow than last year at this time:

Thank you for the report! I'm expected to go up there in a week and a half so it's nice to hear constant updates of the trail conditions - much appreciated!
Too bad about the weather but the views appear nevertheless quite spectacular!
Hope you experience better though next trip up!
